Handmade furniture items always look spectacular. They perfectly fit into the interior and emphasize its individuality. The original ottoman made of a usual plastic bucket and a jute rope will become self-sufficient decoration of a hall or bedroom. Jute elements fit perfectly into the situation and are a fashionable element of decor. The process of making ottoman is extremely simple, and the history of the appearance of such an elegant and stylish thing in the interior, if desired, can be easily kept secret.
For work you will need the following materials:
- plastic cylindrical bucket;
- jute rope - 30-40 m (consumption depends on the diameter of the rope and the size of the bucket);
- packing microfiber towels;
- furniture decorative knobs-buttons with low legs - 3 pcs .;
- 3 cuts of dense fabric with different prints; diameter over the bucket;
- dense cardboard;
- Velcro for clothes (the amount depends on the diameter of the bucket).
Necessary for work tool:
- glue gun or glue;
- construction or furniture stapler;
- sharp knife or scalpel;
The pleasant moment is that it is not necessary to sew in the manufacture of ottoman. It will not be necessary for work and the tool demanding constant feed from an electric network.
We begin work with the detachment of the handle.
Turn the bucket upside down and begin to glue the rope in a circle. It is important to grease small areas with glue. In the course of work, it is necessary to press the rope to the bucket, letting the glue "grab" and monitor the absence of gaps between the turns. Otherwise, the bucket color will appear through the rope.
Reaching the top of the bucket, we cut the rope.
If the bucket has flanks or projecting parts, you will need to impose an additional layer of rope or rope to visually hide irregularities.
Cut out a cardboard circle corresponding to the diameter of the bucket. And then we transfer the marking to the fabric, withstanding the allowance of 7.5 - 8 cm. Now the fabric can be cut off.
Determine the center of the cardboard circle and make a small notch, sufficient for it to include a bolt from the furniture button. We connect the prepared fabric with the circle, placing it in the center.Pass the bolt through the fabric. If necessary, make an incision. The pin from the bolt should be on the front side of the fabric. It's time to fix the furniture handle.
We use microfiber towels as stuffing. If desired, they are easy to replace with dense foam, sepentone or scraps of fabric. We roll a towel with a straw. Having lifted the fabric fastened on the cardboard, we start to alternately wind around the towel. Additionally fix them with glue.
We add towels until the cardboard circle is completely closed.
Straighten the fabric and turn over the pillow. We fasten the fabric with a stapler, not forgetting to slightly stretch it.
From the remainder of the fabric, we cut out another circle. Its diameter should be 3-4 cm less than the base of the cardboard. Glue it to the back of the pillow, closing the attachment points of the fabric and cardboard.
To the bottom of the bucket we glue over two stripes of velcro.
We fix mates from the back of the pillow.
It remains only to fix the pillow on the bucket.
Our ottoman is ready!
If desired, it is easy to make several replacement pillows. This will allow to periodically change the situation.Pick up the trim can be in tone with other elements of the decor or in contrast.
It is easy to make changes to the interior yourself. One has only to want this.
