A rocket or jet furnace is fundamentally different from the others by a high degree of heating and convection of the body, which is made either from bricks (a stone furnace) or from a thick-walled metal. This heater is equipped with a water circuit, connected to radiators and get almost full-fledged economical heating system. Our version of the jet furnace is the author of homemade products that we propose to make from an empty propane cylinder. The principle of operation of the furnace

The furnace consists of a firebox, a heated container and a chimney. The fire pipe is made in the form of a bent pipe, in which the burning of firewood occurs in its lower part. Hot air rises through a vertical pipe located in the center of the heated container, which in our case is made of a gas cylinder. Rising up, the hot air heats the walls of the tank, and gradually cooling down, comes down through the chimney, which creates convection of air and traction in the furnace.

Materials:
  • Propane gas cylinder;
  • Square pipe, welded from double angles;
  • Metal corner 50x50x5 mm;

Before starting to work, you must remember that gas cylinders are extremely flammable and explosive. They must be thoroughly rinsed with water, temporarily separated in a cylinder, because even small residues of liquefied gas during cutting can lead to an explosion of the container.

Preparing a cylinder

A propane household cylinder consists of a neck , shell and bottom. Usually it is placed vertically, so that the stop valves remain in the most prominent place in the center of the balloon. It is necessary to get rid of it, lightly tapping with a hammer.

By unscrewing the choke with a wrench, fill the balloon with water to wash off the remaining liquefied gas. Let's leave the water for a while, and then gently tilt the container and merge it. We cut pipes and scald the firebox

The next step is to cut the metal corners according to the size of the loading chamber, the firebox and the air duct. Cut them with a grinder or plasma cutter, and boil each of them along the ribs. Connections will be located at different angles. The dimensions of these elements are as follows:
  • Vertical air duct - 900 mm;
  • Horizontal firebox - 500 mm;
  • Feeder or loading chamber - 400 mm.
The furnace and duct are connected perpendicularly. We cut the ends of these pipes into 45 degrees at a whisker, and boil the pipes from all sides. Since the metal in the welding process is heated above 1,500 degrees Celsius, it can lead. Therefore, it is not superfluous to check the accuracy of the connection with a metal corner.

Install the chimney
