Power Yoga Poses
Symbols have been used in yoga and other calming practices for thousands of years to focus busy minds. Examples include the mandala, an intricate circular pattern that represents unity, and the Sanskrit symbol for om, a mantra used in meditation. Some symbols, like the lotus flower, even inspire actual yoga poses. With roots buried in the mud at the bottom of a lake or pond and a blossom that floats at the surface, the lotus represents beauty emerging from darkness. In the iconic yoga position Lotus Pose, you sit with legs crossed and hands facing upward on your knees in a posture that opens your chest and hips, preparing you for the rest of your practice.
Try some of these gentle yoga poses, then download and color the lotus-inspired design to quiet your mind even more.
