“Other” - what part of speech?

The question of determining the part of speech in the majority does not cause any problems, with the exception of some "insidious" words, for example, the word "other."

And indeed, the word "other" - what part of speech? It is very easily confused with an adjective, however it is a definitive pronoun. Example of use: "The music that filled the day, subsided, changed another." The definitive pronoun "other" in a sentence may act as an adjective (see the last example) or a noun: "Others will respond differently."
